Holly Cole n’a plus besoin de présentation! Elle est incontestablement l’une des plus grandes chanteuses jazz. Elle a vendu des centaines de milliers d’albums autour du globe, a récolté trois prix Juno, en plus d’avoir fait une multitude de tournées nationales. En 2013, elle est devenue la quinzième récipiendaire du très prestigieux prix Ella-Fitzgerald, remis par le Festival de jazz de Montréal à « une chanteuse ou un chanteur de jazz au talent remarquable qui a eu un impact et une influence majeurs sur la scène internationale. » 

2019 a été une année de tournée remarquable pour Holly Cole, car non seulement elle s’est produite à l’étranger, mais elle a offert quatre concerts affichant complet au festival de jazz de la métropole, ce qui l’a menée à lancer l’album live Montreal, au printemps dernier. Ce sont d’ailleurs des titres de cet enregistrement, ainsi que les pièces favorites de ses fans qu’elle viendra entonner lors de ce nouveau passage dans la salle Raoul-Jobin.

Pour l’occasion, la jazzwoman sera accompagnée de son fidèle pianiste Aaron Davis, membre du fameux Holly Cole Trio, de John Johnson aux instruments à vent, de Davide Di Renzo à la batterie et de George Koller à la contrebasse. 

Étoile montante du jazz canadien, Laila Biali se produira pour la toute première fois à Québec. La chanteuse et pianiste torontoise, qui cumule les honneurs depuis une dizaine d’années, s’arrêtera en compagnie de son trio. Biali s’est taillée une place enviable dans le milieu en touchant au jazz, bien sûr, mais en flirtant aussi avec plusieurs autres styles, dont la pop. Elle présentera notamment les pièces de son plus récent album, Out of Dust, salué par la critique et conçu avec de prestigieux invités dont Lisa Fischer, Alan Ferber, John Ellis, and Larnell Lewis. 

Une soirée qui mettra en lumière le talent jazz canadien … au féminin !

Holly Cole doesn’t need introduction anymore! She is, indubitably one of the greatest jazz singers. She sold hundreds of thousands albums around the globe, won 3 Junos and did multiple national tours. In 2013, she became the 15th winner of the prestigious Ella-Fitzgerald prize, given by the Jazz Festival of Montreal to a «jazz singer with an exceptional talent who had a major international impact». 

2019 has been a remarquable touring year for Holly Cole. Not only has she visited international scene, but she also offered four sold out concerts to the Jazz Festival of Montreal. It brought her to release the album Montreal last spring. She will sing those titles as well as fan favorites to Quebec City in her visit to the Palais Montcalm. 

For the occasion, the jazzwoman will be with her loyal pianist Aaron Davis, member of the famous Holly Cole Trio, John Johnson on wind instruments, drummer Davide Di Renzo and bassist George Koller.
